AGM-28 Hound Dog Missile "Hound Dog" Missile

The AGM-28 Hound Dog Missile air-to-ground missile was built by North American Aviation and used by the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command from 1959 until 1977.
A B-52 Bomber carried two of the inertially guided 1 megaton W-28 thermonuclear warhead cruise missiles. They had a range of 785 miles, a top speed of 1200 mph and had an operating altitude of between 200 and 56,000 feet. Their purpose was to either attack heavily defended enemy targets or to destroy enemy air defense systems without subjecting the manned B-52 squadrons to the vulnerability
of these high risk targets.
