Rantoul Railroad Station - Many of us arrived and left Chanute through this station. I made several trips through the station while going through tech school. When returning to Chanute after Christmas in 1960 the train was literally packed with GI's. Most of them were loaded to the gills and had to be carried off the train. They were stacked up on the loading dock lick cord wood while waiting for the bus to take them to Chanute. It was really funny! Photograph courtesy of Larry Sabadini.
811C Mobile Training Detachment
Captain Carroll, shown in picture, commanded the MTD. Other personnel are unrecognizable. The MTD performed a major service in upgrading the 341st Bomb Squadrons's aircrews.
